The area we are in is very rich in artistic and architectonical resources. Here you can find the most beautifull medicean villas of Tuscany.
Most of them were ancient strongholds restored by famous architects on behalf of Medici.
The best examples are "The Castle of Cafaggiolo" and the "Castle of Trebbio", both of them purchased by Cosimo the Old and restored by the architect Michelozzo Michelozzi in the second half of XIVth century.

Most of these medicean villas are located only twenty kilometres from the hotel: the closest one and maybe the most beautiful is "The villa of Artimino", called "La Ferdinanda", 'cause Ferdinando I, near the end of XVIth century, gave Buontalenti the job to build the villa on the ruins of an ancient Pisan stronghold.
Worth viewing is the ancient medieval village of Artimino with its typical craftman and antiquarian workshops, and moreover the restaurants with tuscan wine tasting, first of all Chianti.
It's very beautifull also the villa of Poggio a Caiano purchased by Lorenzo il Magnifico and restored by the architect Giuliano da Sangallo in 1479. In front of the villa there is the ancient medicean game preserve, now become a Golf club and a manège.
